re-release of beverly glenn-copeland’s rural canadian new age suite for dx7 and tr707 …keyboard fantasies… with new carefully reconstructed glasswork design by alan briand beverly glenn-copeland is already known amongst collectors and music heads for two sought-after albums of folky jazz in the key of joni. but it was this album, originally self-released on cassette in 1986 that really caught our attention. the album, entirely recorded on dx-7 and tr-707, lies somewhere between digital new-age and (accidentally) early detroit techno experiments. the inimitable style of bgc here is both peaceful and meditative while simultaneously rhythmic and bass heavy. the album was recorded in the northern canadian town of huntsville where bgc was living at the time and is a beautiful fusion of personal vision, technology and place.

mattes schwarz started djing in 1982 at age twelve, inspired by, as many west-german kids, the gi-djs of the roller skating rinks around us army bases. while he got heavily involved in cologne’s bmx scene of the 90s, he never really stopped, and during the main years of being known as stecken-mattes and playing there each friday night, he coincidently lived in magazine record’s homebase, north- eastern cologne’s old harbour. one day after stecken’s closure had sent restructuring ripples through the city - i imagine him getting up in the morning and taking a deep breath - he decided to send magazine a few tracks. “i don’t know” is mattes schwarz’ first release.

olim in latin can be used to indicate a time in the past or in the future. it can mean ‘once upon a time’ and ‘someday in the future’. a name and a project to try to move away from trends and genres, by taking inspiration from the past but at the same time leaving it, moving forward to shape a different and more narrative sound. the first attempt to do so is recursively: an 8 track album, opening with a sentence from bunny marrett sampled from an old documentary about st paul’s and the jamaican immigration in bristol during the 80’s. inspired by those intro words, recursively is a journey born from many years moving around, packing and unpacking suitcases, leaving villages, finding cities,leaving friends and finding more, emigrating, integrating. it’s a story about an entire generation trying to find the peace somewhere, somehow, sometimes by repeating the same steps in a loop of actions which seem to be the same but ultimately never are. it’s a soundtrack of those feelings and at the same time a message of hope to continue the journey through the faith that the meaning is the infinite journey itself. an infinite loop masterfully represented in carol rollo’s illustration. a story to be continued.

oraculo records looks to the past in very few occasions and monomen deserves to be one of the exceptions. the norvegian band momonen released back in 2007 one of the best electronic post-punk albums of the beginning of xxi centurty on trust me records, not only for the music quality but because all the band members had only 19 years old at the time. suddenly the band gets dissolved after only 1 ep and 1 album. now, 10 years later, oraculo records proudly recovers the best tracks of their album (+1 one of the previous ep) on a record that will be very searched and valued. all tracks mastered and remastered specially for vinyl by eric van wonterghem at prodam studio (berlin).
